It is often said that tea, especially green tea, has a good influence on your health. Green tea contains substances that reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

“Consumption of green tea may not be a magic bullet, but should be included in an overall healthy diet with whole grains, fish, fruits and vegetables and – less red and processed meat,” says Kyu Sun assistant in the Department of Nutrition at Harvard school of public health.

The major beneficial to health substances in green tea are polyphenols, especially catechins and epicatechin. Laboratory and animal studies have shown that these molecules have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. In surveys of large groups of people, researchers from Harvard found that consumers of green have lower risk for diabetes and cardio – vascular diseases.

It is important is to be noted that green tea contains only a few calories when it is clean, according to Sun. It should not be mixed with sugar or other sweeteners, which add calories.
